I find the best thing to do is give yourself a break. When I know my muse has disappeared, I decide to give myself one or two weeks to do anything but art. It happened to me recently, so I'd come home from work and start watching tv, or movies. I'd go out for coffee with a book, surf the net, socialize with friends, and so on.
No guilt, that is the most important part. After a week or so of this, you will start feeling the urge to work again. Your muse won't stay away that long. Just remember again, the most important thing is make yourself take a break without any pressure to create. Call it a mini vacation. It has never failed to work for me.
Good luck!

Hmmm, Jacqui...sometimes there is burn out--it happens to everyone, even the creative types, especially if you are doing the same sort of thing over and over.

I find that looking at other art that I like helps--I always love the other way people interpret their art--or maybe just taking a break and doing the things I like, which is what the other ladies already suggested.

I am sure you will find your muse again, soon!

Hi sweets.
Sorry to hear your muse is gone.
I always surf the whole Deviant art site for inspiration when that happens to me, with a nice glass dry white wine and turn on my fav music(NIN or the Creatures) loud.
And then there are the ideas.
I hope you find your muse.
big hug

Jacqui, I hate it when my muse takes a flyer (I'm always afraid that she won't come back). I too usually take a break and while I'm not doing any art at all, I find that I'm usually scoping out sites and books that feed my creative soul - and before I know it, Madame Muse is back!

Good luck!

Jacqui I know of where you speak.. It has happened to me more recently. A friend says in a place of "figuring out what should come next" (easy for him to say)
I wish I could be of some help... because I know when people say go for a walk, read a book, relax with some tea... that never works for me... (God Bless you people for suggestions and it working for you) but I almost have to .... wait ..... once in awhile I will try to do something other than clay... but....

My suggestion is wait and have another glass of wine : )

Jacqui,

I lost it for awhile..I read and communicated with other artists...watched old monster movies and some new ones....tried something new..Like Pattee said it happens and all you can do is take a break and let go....

Smiles,
Sonia ;)

I lost my mojo last week but woke up to find it was back again this morning !!!!
I distracted myself, did some jobs that needed doing, went shopping for fabrics and trims, and took a night out to just relax and it seemed to do the trick , a good long walk does help too,
hope your muse is back as quick as my mojo :0)

She is right next you Jacqui and she is patiently waiting for you to pick her up! Don't be so hard on yourself. We all have to take little breaks and give our souls time to think and relax...Think about all that you have accomplished thus far, look around you, smell the air, think about how many people you have touched by your creative spirit, think about how you have changed lives for so many people...especially me! My heart and soul is flying there to be with you...catch it...here it comes...Got it? Now hold it close and giggle! Tada....The Muse has returned and is standing right next to you once again! Love you
Cheers!

Jacqui.. your Muse is hanging out with mine! They are on the lam! Don't panic though.. they are just taking a much needed break to give our brains and hands a rest. I feel confident they will both miss us and return with lots and lots of new ideas! Just hang in their and know you are not alone ((hugs))
